Let me tell you about my events business...
In 2025, I started an events business. It grew out of the core audience of the WFHishNYC newsletter and the other products. I realized that some of my most active subscribers and readers were like me, sort of. They were professional storytellers of one kind or another.

Through my own personal experiences, attending brand, press and PR events consistently, many of which during my social time I noticed that so many of these gatherings were fueled by a constant, humming subtext of “What can you do for me?” and its equally exhausting cousin, “What can I do for you?”

Even under the best circumstances, even when people are kind and sincere and trying their absolute hardest not to be weird about it, that energy can feel, well… icky and honestly a little disingenuous.

So I decided to flip the script. Instead, I gave storytellers of all stripes — musicians, artists, designers, creators, PR and marketing pros, social strategists, and yes, lots and lots of journalists, something surprisingly novel. Events that are not supposed to be transactional.

And it turned out people really wanted that. As of January 2026, since launching, more than 500 people have come through these events. We’ve had everyone from high-profile TV anchors and wildly viral TikTok and Instagram creators to writers at The New York Times and Wired, founders of new apps, people launching influential newsletters, and even a few very recognizable film folks.

The outcomes have been surprisingly, and sincerely, meaningful. Some attendees have found new journalism jobs, two are writing a book together. New friend groups have formed. We’ve even unintentionally played matchmaker once or twice.

To make all this happen, I’ve partnered with collaborators like Fluxo and Coffee Communications to bring the ideas to life. We’ve hosted art shows, concerts, happy hours, co-working days, and parties all with the goal of helping people connect in this amazing city we call home.
